Here at McPherson Cellars we produce our Dolcetto with no oak, to maintain a style consistent with our old world counterparts. This well-structured wine has a profile of blackberry, liquorice, and almonds. A perfect everyday pasta wine!
. The McPherson Carignane was not barrel aged, but produced exclusively in stainless to give a more fruit forward style, which accentuates the hints of black cherry and berry jams that make this such an attractive variety. We bottled this wine young to nurture these attributes of Carignane, which was one of my father’s (Doc McPherson) favorite varietals to enjoy!
The winegrowing regions of Italy are synonymous with certain varieties. We use an acronym: dbs, for this unlikely blend of Piedmont's Dolcetto (68%) and Barbera (27%) with a small percentage of Tuscany's Sangiovese (5%). These varieties are the heart and soul of Piedmont and Tuscany; wonderful varieties which lend themselves to making wines with racy acidity, ripe, red fruit character, and soft tannins.
La Herencia or "the heritage," is our Spanish-style red wine made to give a tip of the hat to both the Spanish explorers who first crossed the Texas High Plains and to those who first envisioned a Texas wine industry. This delicious blend is 75% Tempranillo, 11% Syrah, 7% Mourvedre and 7% Carignan.
Our Les Copains red is our Côtes-du-Rhône-inspired blend of Cinsault, Syrah, Carignane, Mourvèdre, and Grenache. Les Copains is French for "the buddies," the term gives a nod to the playful and perfect combination of these southern Rhône varieties.
Here at McPherson Cellars we make this in a style to be consumed young and fruit forward so the bright berry fruit and plum notes leap from the glass. Please enjoy a bit of Italy from our winery, with this beautiful “everyday” red wine
Sangiovese is an Italian cultivar well suited for sometimes unforgiving climates. We have worked with this variety more than a decade and developed a consistent style in homage to our favorite Chianti table wines of Tuscany.
Our Tre Colore is a blend of the three Rhône varieties Cinsault (50%), Carignane (40%), and Viognier (10%). This light bodied, easy drinking red wine has aromas of dried cherries, cedar, and herbs de Provence.
